This Week in Language Arts:Monday, August 22, 2016
For extra practice in i-Time today, I have downloaded the power point over commas, dashes, and ellipses.
I cannot believe that midterms are on November 13th! Time is flying by! This week we have covered punctuation rules regarding the comma, dash, and ellipsis. We have finished up the week working on context clues. If any student needs to see their notes and does not have their notebook with them, they can log on Google Classroom where the notes have been posted.
Next week, we will go back to our reading standards. We will have several discussions over symbolism and irony in literature. Tutoring can be done on Tuesday's and Thursday's before and after school. If you or your child would like to set up tutoring, you may contact me by clicking the "Contact Me" button on the home page of this site. This week we are finishing up our language standards. We will be learning about creating pauses in our writing with commas, dashes, and ellipsis. In addition, the students have been given a list of prefixes and suffixes that they are to memorize. An i-assignment will be given on all of the above elements. I have attached the list of affixes and provided for you a link to practice on Quizlet. _ Today the students will be developing their introductions for their narrative essays. The rough draft needs to be shared with me on Google by midnight on Thursday. This will include all five paragraphs with transitions and dialogue added.
The students will be learning to properly input dialogue and transitions into their narrative essays today. For future reference, the transition list and videos have been attached for the students to reference. Just click on the link.

Today they have a review for their i-assignment on Friday. The five verb moods are indicative, imperative, interrogative, subjunctive, and conditional. On Google Classroom a presentation has been loaded for them to review at home. We are still working on our narrative writing. We have finished two of the body paragraphs and will have the third one due on Friday.
