The students today are learning about verb moods. They have a presentation plus a practice page that they will complete in class. They will continue working on their narrative writing.
The students are having an i-assignment over active & passive verbs. In addition, the new book report guidelines have been added. We will have workdays periodically towards the end of the 2nd quarter to complete the book report. Even though we will have workdays in class, the students are required to be prepared. On Monday the students continued their study on verbals focusing on participles. On Tuesday, we will begin our writing unit on narrative writing. The students will be given their prompt and take a look at samples of various degrees of writing and will analyze them.
This week we are reviewing basic parts of speech. The basic parts of speech are nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. In addition we are adding verbals starting on Tuesday. Verbals are verb forms: infinitives and gerunds. We will be reviewing on Thursday over gerunds and infinitives and will follow-up with an i-assignment on Friday.
Today during class students will finally be able to finish the movie, "Charly", which is based on the story "Flowers for Algernon". We are wrapping up our unit on this story. Students will be working on their book reports which are due on October 6.
Students will be learning about foreshadowing and flashback in literature. The presentation that will be given in class is uploaded to their Google Classroom. Students will apply this lesson in completing a poster over "Flowers for Algernon".
